Aurora
We refinish and install hardwood floors and stairs in Aurora homes, from village houses near Yonge and Wellington to the larger homes in Aurora Highlands and the Hills of St. Andrew.
Larger Aurora homes often have long, open runs of hardwood through the main floor, plus curved or open staircases where the floor meets the stairs. Light, even sanding matters on a floor like that, because chatter marks or uneven stain show across a big room with big windows. Owners often want to change the colour too, from orange-toned oak to a natural, smoked or deeper brown tone. We test it on your own boards before deciding.
In newer subdivisions such as Bayview Wellington and Aurora Grove, many main floors are prefinished or engineered hardwood. Some engineered floors can be sanded and some can only be recoated, depending on how thick the real-wood wear layer is.
Ontario's dry, heated winters and humid summers make wood shrink and swell, which is why small gaps open between boards in January and close up again in July. That's normal. For new floors we let the boards acclimate before installation, and for refinishing we avoid filling seasonal gaps that would crack out again. Keeping indoor humidity steady helps the floor and the finish.
A free visit to check the floor type and condition, a written, itemized quote with the schedule, protected adjoining rooms, and a final walkthrough. Work we perform comes with a 1-year warranty. Our team brings 15 years of renovation experience in Ontario.

Yes, as part of a full sand. We apply stain samples on your own boards so you can see them in your light before choosing. Oak takes stain well; some species such as maple are harder to stain evenly, and we'll tell you if that applies.
Sometimes. It depends on the thickness of the real-wood wear layer. Some engineered floors can be sanded once or more, while thin ones can only be buffed and recoated. We check at the visit.
Wood shrinks when heated winter air dries it out and swells again in humid summer weather. Small seasonal gaps are normal. Keeping indoor humidity steady reduces them.
