Newmarket
Newmarket is our home base. We paint walls, ceilings, trim, doors, kitchen cabinets and exteriors across town, and the patching, sanding and priming are done properly before any finish coat goes on.
Newmarket has two very different kinds of houses to paint. Near Main Street and the old downtown, older brick and frame homes often have plaster walls, uneven corners and trim carrying decades of oil-based paint. Those surfaces need cleaning, scuff-sanding and a bonding primer before a modern water-based finish will hold.
Further out, Glenway, Stonehaven, Summerhill Estates, Armitage and Woodland Hill were mostly built from the 1980s to the 2000s. There we usually find builder-grade flat paint that marks easily, nail pops and hairline cracks at corners, scuffed stairwells, and honey-oak trim and railings that owners would like painted. We fix the drywall first, then choose a washable finish for halls, kitchens and kids' rooms.
We visit, look at every surface and tell you what prep it needs. Your written, itemized quote lists the rooms and surfaces, the prep steps, the number of coats and the paint line, so you can compare quotes properly. Floors and furniture are covered, work areas are tidied at the end of each day, and we walk through the finished rooms with you. Work we perform comes with a 1-year warranty.
Newmarket has one heritage conservation district, Lower Main Street South, plus individually designated properties. The Town says alterations to a designated property or a property in the district need a heritage permit, and its permit forms list exterior painting and painting or staining masonry among the changes reviewed. If your home is on the heritage list, talk to the Town's planning staff before you pick exterior colours. Interior painting isn't affected.
Interior painting works all year. Heated winter air helps water-based paint dry evenly, and winter is a quieter time to book. Exterior paint needs dry surfaces and mild air and surface temperatures (check the product label; many paints need about 10°C or more), so in Newmarket the outdoor season usually runs from late spring to early fall.

Yes. We're based in Newmarket and paint homes from the downtown and Main Street area to Glenway, Stonehaven, Summerhill Estates, Armitage, Woodland Hill and Bristol-London, as well as offices and retail units in town.
Yes. We clean and scuff-sand the trim, then use a bonding primer made for going over oil-based paint before the new water-based finish. Skipping that step is the most common reason new trim paint peels.
Painting and decorating don't need a building permit. If your home is a designated heritage property or sits in the Lower Main Street South Heritage Conservation District, exterior changes such as painting masonry may need a heritage permit, so check with the Town first.
